Dr. A. R. Habayeb
Chief Scientist
Abdul R. Habayeb, Ph.D. is a recognized
industry leader in areas of systems
engineering, architecting, and effectiveness. He has over 35 years of
Operations and Systems research and
management experience. His research specialties include engineering
systems, architecting systems, Systems
Effectiveness, and Computer Integrated
Manufacturing (CIM). Dr. Habayeb's theorem on conflict analysis, called
the
Variable Interaction Law, is one of the first theorems to mathematically quantify the value of information in operational scenarios. His
methodology for integrating information technology into manufacturing
processes has been applied to actual manufacturing environments. Once
applied by the manufacturer, substantial productivity
improvements and cost savings have been realized.
Dr. Habayeb’s extensive engineering
background includes design of logic circuits
and control systems, performance evaluation, reliability
assessment, and analysis and quantification of systems
effectiveness. Dr. Habayeb has managed several information, and
communications programs. He has also published
several papers, reports, and a book entitled "Systems Effectiveness". He is a frequent lecturer in the areas of CIM,
Architecting, Engineering Systems, and
evaluation of Systems Effectiveness. He has been
requested by domestic and international clients to lecture on
these topics.
Prior to joining the BITS management
team, Dr. Habayeb served as Systems Command,
Guidance and Control Technology Administrator for the Naval Air Systems
Command (NAVAIR)in Washington, D.C. At NAVAIR,
he helped identify alternative manufacturing
processes that the United States Navy could use to produce systems and utilize technologies faster and more economically. One of his
research projects helped modernize a sensors
factory that has realized substantial productivity
improvements and cost savings since its modernization.
Dr. Habayeb has a Bachelor of Science
degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University. He
received his Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and his
Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas. He has
served as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and Chairman of the
Electrical Engineering Department in Jordan. Dr.Habayeb has taught
Systems Engineering courses at the University of Maryland and George
Washington University. He holds several
patents in the field of switching circuits and data communication. Dr.
Habayeb is a senior member of the IEEE and Sigma Xi.
